I would suggest prophecies if you have never played GW before since it has skill rewards and a slow learning curve...although Nightfall probably has the strongest player base in general plus it has the addition of Hero's (customizable henchman) there is a sticky about which GW to get I would suggest reading it...
And if money really isn't an Issue get all 3 i believe they are bundle deals around where u can practically get one for free |

Prophecies is good if you're a very casual gamer. If you think you'll really get into GW (are an online RPG fan) then I suggest Nightfall because of its endgame and its heroes.

yeah the first one will really help you understand the game mechanics and stuff, the last chapter has the next most amount of content and factions is the shortest and quickest to get to make level....
so I would pick 1,3 then 2.... |

zipzoomfly.com still has Factions for $19.99 and you can start any of the core professions on any of the games (such as Ele/Mes). And they have Nightfall for $24.99. Just FYI

I would recomend starting with Nightfall.
There are far more players in the campaign than either of the other two. The storyline is excellent. The hero's make it far more managable than proph or factions(factions has very few good things about it). If you would like to start slowly and learn the game at a easy pace get prophicies. |

If your looking for a game with a nice story line and give you a good amount of time to learn what you are doing and learn how things work at a little slower pase which if your new to the game would be a good idea get the first one at is has a better slower learning curve and more new guy friendly but if you want to jump right in to the action with not much learning and just action get Factions or Nightfall personally i would go with Prophecies first then once you get bored of that one get Nightfall and then Factions or if you don't have a money problem just get all three and link them all then you actully will have one big game

Personally I would suggest the following
1. Buy Nightfall ??? mostly populated campaign + Heroes 2. Then buy Prophesise ??? Take your NF Ele over and cap elite skills (all area???s can be completed with Heroes/Henches so you will not be reliant upon trying to get a full human team up together) 3. Buy Factions if you want to complete your full skill acquisition for your Ele. |

If GW is your first online RPG, then go with prophecies. If it's not, i would go with nightfall. Nightfall is the most populated at the moment, it's a bit shorter than prophecies but not too short and you'll find the heroes very useful.

you should get prophecies first because it has the slowest learning curve and is the only one that introduces more skills over time. after that you should at least get to know the factions story. Then get Nightfall, which ties up the stories from both prophecies and factions.

Get prophecies first. It's is the original, and the original is always better.
In prophecies you get a better perspective of the world of Guildwars. |

Get prophecies, the storyline is SO much better than NF, not sure about Factions though. Prophecies is a great game because it actually lets you acquire the skills through normal gameplay, where NF you have to buy a lot of them.

Ill echo the sentiment that in Prophecies you have a slower learning curve. Slow here is NOT a bad thing. I would think that as a new player, jumping straight into Factions or Nightfall would be a bit overwhelming. I also think that the starting area in Prophecies has a lot of nice people who are willing to help new players adjust to their new surroundings.
And, the way you attain skills in Prophecies is a lot better because you receive them as a reward for doing quests. In the other chapters you may have to find a way to accumualte a lot of gold rather quickly in order to BUY the skill you want. |

I'd agree with the above, Prophecies has a better learning curve than the others.
If you really wanna play as an ele though... Get Nightfall second. It gets the kickass ele skills. |
